TRAVEL DIARIES - From Sardinia to Bali
by: Victor
Once upon a time, my good friend "Smate"'s friends started working for Ticket To The Moon on "the island." And I don't mean just any island—I mean Bali , a magical place where this story slowly gets going. Get involved ;)
Smate, two other friends, and I decided to travel to another island—beautiful Sardinia . Our plan: to inaugurate our new hammocks and enjoy the finest drum and bass at the Sun and Bass Festival . We found an absolutely perfect hammock spot—with gnarled trees right on the coast, ideal for chilling in our king-size hammocks.
We repeated this ritual for two years. After that, my friends decided not to come with me anymore, so I went alone, certain I'd make new friends there.
And indeed, there I was again, in this incredible, stormy, yet perfect place in nature. Alone with my hammock. In the small side pocket of my hammock was a heavy stone to close the entrance—so I could snuggle up like in a cocoon. The wind didn't stand a chance, because the parachute material of the hammock simply let it blow over me.
The next morning, I woke up to the rising sun after a night of crashing waves and howling winds—and stepped out of my hammock like a butterfly unfolding its wings. It felt like I was reborn .
This place is my sacred space . Here, the seed was planted that later led me to Bali—to my yoga teacher training .
A year later, I had to return—with new friends. So I brought five new hammocks with me to Sardinia in my small black backpack .
It was an unforgettable time.
Later, in Cape Town , this backpack accompanied me on all my mountain hikes. There, I met Neils from the Netherlands – a globetrotter just beginning his journey. As a parting gift, I gave him my beloved backpack. I knew he would need it – and I would find a new one someday "somewhere."
A few months later, after completing my yoga training in Bali, I set out alone to explore the island's natural beauty—the waterfalls were especially high on my list. After six hours of hiking through rice terraces on the way to Aling Aling Waterfall , I suddenly remembered my old backpack—and the thought that I should definitely get a new one before leaving.
And suddenly—right after this thought—a small shop appeared in the middle of the jungle. And what did they have there? A Ticket To The Moon backpack —just for me. This time red , not black. That's how things change.
