Part 9: Hammock Hacks for Advanced Users
Hanging out cleverly: How to get more out of your hammock.
Once you've mastered the basics, it's time for little tricks that will make your everyday hammock life easier, more comfortable, or more versatile.
1. Drip lines against moisture
A small piece of string on each suspension point diverts rain or dew before it reaches your hammock. Simple but effective.
2. Packing bag as a pillow
The hammock bag can be filled with clothes and becomes a cozy pillow – without any extra packing space.
3. Make a gear organizer
Don't have an organizer handy? Simply attach a cloth bag or an old net to the hook with carabiners – and your bedside table is ready.
4. Use a hammock as a seat
Hang your hammock lower and across your seating – perfect for cooking or gathering around the campfire.
5. Tarp “Low Mode” in storms
If it's stormy, stretch your tarp especially low and tight – like a protective shield. This way, everything stays dry even in rain and wind.
6. Two hammocks, one setup
If you're not traveling alone, you can set up two hammocks under one tarp —for sharing gear and staying close.
