Event Highlight: Bushcraft Jamboree 2026 – More Than Just a Weekend in the Woods

If the outdoor community has a “living room,” it’s the Bushcraft Jamboree. Nestled in the heart of the Vogelsberg, a clearing is transformed for a weekend into the hub of the German bushcraft scene. We at TICKET TO THE MOON have been an integral part of this event for years—and for good reason.

Why We Love the Jamboree

For us, the Jamboree isn't just another trade show. It's like coming home to friends. The venue in Herbstein, Hesse, is simply picturesque: vast meadows, dense forests, and that very special energy that arises when hundreds of like-minded people come together.

Especially in the evenings, after the workshops are over, the event really comes alive. We sit for hours around the big campfire, listen to the live concerts, and enjoy the camaraderie. It’s exactly these moments that make the Jamboree so special to us.

Evenings by the campfire—this is where the heart of the Jamboree beats.

Our highlight: Who can make it all the way to the top?

We're aiming high again this year at our booth! In addition to our current collection of parachute silk hammocks, we'll once again be hosting our legendary hammock contest in 2026.

The concept is simple but challenging: Several hammocks are strung directly one above the other in the trees. Anyone who manages to skillfully climb from hammock to hammock all the way to the top gets to choose a prize from our selection as a reward. It’s a blast for spectators and participants alike!

A Conversation with Matthias: The Brain Behind the Jamboree

To understand how an event like this comes together, we sat down with the founder, Matthias.

Matthias Busch - Founder and Organizer of the Bushcraft Jamboree

TICKET TO THE MOON:
Matthias, how did the idea for the jamboree actually come about? Was there a specific “aha moment”?

Matthias: I actually come from the restaurant industry, but the outdoors has always been my thing. I noticed that there were hardly any good gatherings. So I started organizing small get-togethers at my place through online forums. After a test weekend with Timo from Savotta, I knew: the concept works. Since I come from the catering industry, organizing events is second nature to me. That’s how a private gathering turned into a major event.

What can we expect in 2026?

Ticket to the Moon: The Jamboree is growing steadily. What can participants look forward to in 2026—something that may never have been seen before?

Matthias: I always try to maintain high standards and take it up a notch. In 2026, we’ll have a new band on the lineup and a huge number of familiar faces from the YouTube scene. That’s really a first in this scene. But in the end, it’s not about “higher, faster, further”—it’s about getting the quality right.

"I can't promise that meteorites will fall from the sky, but I promise the vibe will be right."

The Philosophy: Bushcraft Meets Well-Being

Ticket to the Moon: You often emphasize that the social aspect is just as important as the workshops. Why is that?

Matthias: I like to compare it to going out to a restaurant. No matter how good the food is—if the chairs are uncomfortable, the lighting is too bright, and the waiter is grumpy, you won’t go home feeling good. At the Jamboree, we pay attention to the little details: the kerosene lamp, the sunshade, the right music. It’s supposed to be a composition. We want people to “wind down.”

Ticket to the Moon: What advice do you have for someone attending for the first time in 2026?

Matthias: It's simple: Unwind and go with the flow. Just go with it, let yourself drift, and enjoy the community. It doesn't matter if you're a pro bushcrafter or sleeping in the woods for the first time.

Why "Ticket to the Moon" and the Jamboree Go Hand in Hand

Ticket to the Moon: We’ve been participating as exhibitors for a long time now. What do you appreciate most about our collaboration?

Matthias: You guys are real team players. Harmony is extremely important to me, and with you guys, I know we’re on the same page. Plus, I really appreciate reliable gear. I’ve seen ultralight hammocks that ripped the first time they hit a branch—your gear just holds up. And the fact that you travel all the way from Bali as a team or help us network with other exhibitors shows me that you’ve truly grasped the spirit of the Jamboree.

Come visit us at our booth!

We’re really looking forward to welcoming you to our booth. Whether you’re interested in the latest gear, need some expert advice on how to hang your gear, or just want to relax on one of our mats for a while—come stop by!
