Part 5: Finding the perfect spot for hammock camping
Whether it's the forest, the beach, or your balcony, you'll find the right place to hang out.
The greatest freedom of hammock camping is that you don't need flat ground. All that matters are two secure hanging points—and you can find those in a variety of locations.
The classics: trees
In a forest or park, the choice is vast – two strong, living trees with the right spacing are sufficient. Make sure they're healthy and don't have any loose branches hanging over you ("widowmaker").
Above the water
If you're feeling brave and have the right setup, you can also set up your hammock over a stream or lake. The sound of the rippling water is guaranteed to lull you to sleep.
At the beach
With palm trees or hammock stands you can transform a beach spot into a hammock oasis – perfect for sunsets and the sound of the sea.
In the mountains
Sleeping high up among rocks or on a mountainside? With the right equipment, it's no problem—as long as you always keep safety in mind.
In your own garden or on the balcony
You can also experience the hammock feeling at home. With hooks in the wall, special frames, or clever DIY construction, your balcony becomes a feel-good oasis.
