TRAVEL DIARIES - High Above the Rhine
by: Felix & Patrick – Germany
My name is Felix; I'm 34 years old and a hiking blogger from Cologne. Together with my buddy Patrick—who's also from Cologne—we're often out on the trail and share our experiences on our blog, wanderzentrale.de.
People often think you have to travel far to experience a real adventure. Sure, we love adventure—but when you live in Cologne, nature isn’t usually right around the corner. Fortunately, though, there’s a real highlight waiting just south of the Rhine: the Rhine Valley, part of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
On our hikes along the Rhine, we love climbing the steep vineyards, enjoying the views, and discovering the many castles perched on the hills.
During a hike on the Rheinsteig, we asked ourselves: How awesome would it be to have a comfortable way to relax—or even spend the night? While searching for a solution, we came across Ticket To The Moon —and that’s how our passion for hammocks began. Ever since, the Lightest Hammock has been our faithful companion.
Whether for a break or an overnight stay—we’ve shared unforgettable moments with it. Now, on every hike, we look for the perfect spot to set it up so we can enjoy the view with a glass of Riesling or a cold beer.
No matter how steep the climb or how rough the trail: When we spot a great spot— we’re hooked.
