Canvas and Carry Series: A Collaboration with Indonesian Artist Lampurio
For Ticket to the Moon's 30th anniversary in 2026, we proudly present the first edition of our new Canvas and Carry Series – a creative journey where functional everyday products become movable works of art.
Kicking things off is a collaboration with Rio Simatupang, better known as Lampurio. The Indonesian painter and mixed-media artist is known for his powerful, tribal-inspired imagery, captivating people far beyond Indonesia.
Meet Lampurio: Art born from Nature, Culture, and Movement
Lampurio hails from Palu City in Central Sulawesi. Growing up amidst the stunning nature and cultural diversity of Indonesia, these influences continue to shape his work to this day.
His art is characterized by clean lines, strong forms, and minimalist compositions – full of stories about land, people, and spiritual connection. Lampurio himself describes his style as “tribal, bold, and minimalist.” His themes revolve around nature, animals, communities, social realities, and culture – and thus, the relationship between humans and the world they inhabit.
For Lampurio, art is more than pure aesthetics. It is a message.
A reminder that nature is a gift – a livelihood that deserves respect, mindfulness, and protection.
How the Collaboration Began
Contact between Lampurio and Ticket to the Moon began a few years ago during his Geo Park Poso Expedition. In preparation for his trip, he contacted us to get hammocks and tarps for his outdoor adventures.
From this practical request, something more quickly developed: an exchange, a connection, and eventually a creative friendship. Lampurio shared his work with us – and thus, the foundation for this collaboration was laid.
The First Canvas and Carry
To mark our 30th anniversary, Lampurio created an exclusive artwork for Ticket to the Moon: powerful, symbolic, and unmistakably his style.
We transferred this artwork as a limited edition to our ECO BAG Medium. This transformed a functional everyday product into a portable work of art.
Like a traveler collecting memories, the bag itself becomes a canvas in motion – traveling through cities, forests, islands, and everyday life.
What "Traveling Canvas" Means
When asked what he associates with the idea of a traveling canvas, Lampurio says:
“I associate it with freedom, discovery, and stories.
The artwork becomes a companion on the journey, gathering impressions, places, and experiences. A Traveling Canvas embodies the spirit of movement and change – and shows how art can grow, evolve, and connect people.”
This philosophy reflects our own values – a light life, connected to nature – and shared with others.
A Sustainable Work of Art
The ECO BAG Medium is made from upcycled parachute fabric. Leftover material from hammock production gets a new life. Each bag replaces countless disposable plastic bags and is designed for daily use for many years.
