Upgrade für dein Setup: So findest du mit der Ridgeline immer den perfekten Liegewinkel

Upgrade your setup: How the Ridgeline always helps you find the perfect recline angle

There's gear you don't truly appreciate until you've used it. The Ridgeline is one such item. Unassuming, lightweight, yet a real game-changer for your hammock setup.

What exactly is a Ridgeline?

Imagine the Ridgeline as the backbone of your setup. It's an adjustable rope stretched directly between the two ends of your hammock, above your sleeping area.

The clever part: The Ridgeline determines the "sag" – or the curve – of your hammock, completely independent of how far apart the trees are or at what angle your suspension ropes run to the trunks.

Why you'll love it

Consistent Comfort: Once set to your preferred length, your hammock will offer you the exact same lying angle every time. You'll instantly find the perfect diagonal position for a restful sleep.

Saviour in a pinch for wide spans: If trees are 6 or 7 meters apart, you'd normally have to hang the suspension extremely high or tension the hammock tautly. With the Ridgeline, it maintains its ideal curve, even if the outer ropes are under high tension.

Order in the "bedroom": The integrated organizer keeps your phone and headlamp within reach. Pro tip: Place a flashlight inside – the fabric acts as a diffuser for cozy light.

How the Ridgeline works

Through a special weave of high-strength UHMWPE material, it utilizes an ingenious physical principle of self-fixation:

Under tension: As soon as tension is applied to the line, the outer braid stretches and thereby becomes narrower. It wraps around the inner rope section like an iron vice grip. The more weight in the hammock, the tighter the connection holds – completely without knots.

When unloaded: As soon as there's no more tension on the rope, the braid loosens. The "tunnel" widens again, and you can easily and infinitely adjust the loop to precisely adjust the length down to the millimeter.

Infinitely adjustable: The Ridgeline can be perfectly adjusted with a few simple steps.

Related Technology: Whoopie Sling

If you look at the Ridgeline, you might notice that it looks very similar to another tool: the Whoopie Sling. Both use the same clever principle.

When to use what?

The Ridgeline is stretched over the hammock to maintain its shape.

The Whoopie Sling is the upgrade for your suspension outwards to the tree. It is ultra-light (only 23 g!) and replaces heavy straps or complicated ropes, allowing you to adjust the distance to the tree with millimeter precision.

Do you really need this?

If you only use your hammock occasionally during the day to relax, you can do without it. But if you want to get the maximum comfort – especially when sleeping overnight or on longer tours – the Ridgeline is a must-have.

Our tip for getting started:

Experiment a bit with the length. The rule of thumb is that the Ridgeline should be about 83% of the total length of your hammock – but that's just a guideline. The beauty of the infinitely variable adjustment is that you can find your own personal comfort level.

Once the setting is dialed in, you can rely on your setup to work anywhere. This leaves more time for what really matters: gazing into the treetops and a deep, relaxed sleep in the fresh air.

Have you already integrated the Ridgeline into your setup or are you still relying on traditional eyeballing when hanging? Share your experiences in the comments – we're curious about your tips!
