Series: Hammock Camping – Part 10: Conclusion & Packing List

Ready for your first adventure? Here's your shortcut.

You now have everything you need to get started: knowledge, inspiration, tips, and tricks. Here we summarize the most important points – including a practical packing list for your first hammock camp.

Why Hammock Camping?

  • You sleep freely and flexibly – even without a flat floor

  • You need less luggage than with a tent

  • You are closer to nature and experience it more intensely

What you definitely need:

  • Hammock with suspension (e.g. moon straps or ropes + carabiners)

  • Sleeping pad or underquilt (depending on the weather)

  • Sleeping bag or blanket

  • Mosquito net (for outdoors)

  • Tarp (for rain or sun protection)

  • Headlamp

  • water bottle

  • Power bank / cell phone / emergency contact

  • First aid kit

  • Garbage bags (for your waste & as a replacement for a pack bag)

Optional – but practical:

  • Gear organizer / small bag

  • seat pad

  • Hammock sleeve

  • Earplugs or sleep mask

  • Top quilt or extra blanket

  • Drip lines when it might get wet

For the first time:

  • Choose a simple spot near you (e.g. forest, park or garden)

  • Check weather forecast & sunset

  • Make a test setup at home

  • Don’t stress – it’s all about practice

Let's hang!

Pack your things, grab your hammock and rediscover the world – among the trees.
